Types of Submersible Cable and its Uses

Submersible cable is used in deep water applications or is mainly immersed in water. It is used for those electrical devices and appliances that have underwater operations.

Underwater pumps are powered using the submersible cable. They are used to connect from the power source to the pump itself. The wiring style differs based upon the situation. The environments that require this type of wires and cables include dewatering tanks, pumps submerged deep wells etc. where the water depths are of about 500 meters and in areas that supply drinking water.

The main purpose of the submersible cable is to ensure there is no interruption in power supply even when applying in water and marine conditions.

Types of submersible cable:

PVC Flat: PVC 3 core flat and PVC 4 flat are two styles that are commonly used in pumps that are submerged in deep wells environments. The two are differentiated by the number of wires. i.e. the PVC3 has 3 wires while there are 4 wires in the PVC4. These wire types are sturdy and used in every type of hostile and aggressive conditions. They are built powerful with additional protection grease, moisture, abrasion, and oil to ensure their durability and longevity.

PVC round: The PVC 3 and PVC 4 core wires are available in round form also. They are designed for use in places where there is lot of sewage and other acidic qualities. They are offered in 3 and 4 wires and used on the connection based on the pump unit needs. This type of cable is often applied in dewatering pump applications. Because of its design, it assures of enhanced protection against acidic fluids, abrasion, and chemicals.

Submersible cable is also available in rubber in both flat and round styles again with 3 and 4 wire choice.

Rubber flat: The rubber 3 core and Rubber 4 core flat types are made for power supplies to connect to submersible pumps that have a depth of 500 meters. the cables are built with oil and water-resistant thermoplastic rubber with adequate insulation. An additional heavy-duty thermoplastic rubber is applied to shield the core insulation. It works as a protection against surging water and friction from a constant movement that is caused due to water fluctuations.

Rubber round: The rubber 3 and rubber 4 core round models are useful to prevent cuts and slits caused by abrasions that can occur while being used. They are weather- resistant and can sustain any type of impact tensions and have strong resistance to chemicals, oils, and solvents.
