Copper Wire- Dependence of Life on Copper

The term wire commonly refers to a bundle of strands which come both in hard and soft form. Wires are used to bear mechanical loads and to carry power and telecommunication signals also. They can be made of almost all types of metals like copper, aluminum, tin, tungsten, iron etc. Usage of metal depends on purpose of wire.

Copper wires come as different products such as Bare copper wire, stranded copper wire, copper sheets, tinned copper wire, etc. mainly used for making electrical wires and other electrical equipments. The most important application of copper is making electrical wires as it is known to be a good conductor of electricity.

Bare copper wire is used for manufacturing cables and thus it plays an important role in cable industries. Stranded Copper Wire is developed for high tolerance in order to bear vibrations and expansions. They are flexible in nature and can easily be expanded hence they are used as connectors in different electrical appliances. They have much better ability to sustain high jolts of vibration. Another kind of copper wire is tinned copper wire. In tinned copper wire, each string of copper is coated with tin. Tinned copper wire has greater longetivity than non-tinned wire. It resists water corrosion and provides high conductivity. Due to its property of water resistance, tinned copper wire is used in boating and various marine projects. It can also be found in overhead power sources such as those in heavy transit systems.
