Role of Copper Wire in Electric Power Distribution – Part 1

Electric power is one of the most essential and basic requirement for any society: across the whole world. Be it swanky discotheques of Bangkok or the elegant night life of New Delhi, electricity is required in each and every location.

Electric power distribution is the last stage of delivery of electricity to the final end users. The whole network of this power distribution is designed in a way so as to carry electricity from the transmission system to the consumers in a safe and fastest manner. In most of the cases, the entities involved in this whole distribution system include: medium voltage power line (that is less than 50kV); transformers which may be pole mounted; meters, substations, low voltage distribution lines etc.

And the most important factor which binds all these high technology equipments is: copper wire.
In most of the devices, gadgets and machines which are used in electric power distribution system, some components and variants of copper wire can instantly found. The reason behind this huge popularity of copper wire is the fact that copper is an excellent conductor of electricity and charge.
Hence, copper wires are mainly used as conductors in the whole electric power distribution system. Besides this, there several other factors as well, which makes copper wire and related copper products as one of the most eagerly sought materials.

This blog series will try to showcase the role of copper and copper products in the critical domain of power distribution system.
