Nickel copper wire- a brief snapshot

Copper is a metal that amalgamate easily with Nickel alloy. And, this amalgamation is known as Cupronickel. This alloy typically comprises of nickel, copper, iron and manganese to strengthen the wire. Moreover, the wire casted from this alloy is designed for the application in sea installations for the reason that it is highly resistant to corrosion. Iron and copper both are susceptible to corrosion when exposed to air and water; as the wire is suspended in the sea water therefore there should be such an alloy which is unaffected to such conditions.

In fact, any ordinary wire can’t be used under the sea water as it will not have the capability to last for more than a minute since the insulator is not appropriate enough to withstand the high pressure of the sea water. Hence, it would either breakdown or leak within no time. Quite the reverse to it, Nickel copper wire can’t be used for domestic purpose for the reason that it is very expensive and the wiring is bit intricate. The wire is made to withstand high temperature which is appropriate only for the industrial or the commercial purposes.
